US Galaxy Tab S4 Wi-Fi model now receiving Android 9 Pie update

The Galaxy Tab S4 is Samsung’s flagship tablet, and it’s one of the best Android slabs on the market. International models started receiving their Android 9 Pie updates a couple of weeks ago, and it’s now the US Wi-Fi (SM-T830) version’s turn.

This update carries version numbers T830XXU2BSD1/T830OXM2BSD1, and it weighs in at a hair under 1.5GB. Galaxy Fold teardown is all hinges, ribbon cables, and screens ready to break if you look at them wrong

Samsung told us what sort of engineering went into making a Galaxy Fold possible. If you didn’t believe what the company had to say, well, take a look at a teardown courtesy of a Chinese blogger and see all the moving parts for yourself.

The images of this torn-down foldable phone seemed to have originally come from this Weibo user — at least, so the watermarks may claim. The post has since been removed from the account, but not before the pictures were circulated to the wider internet. Multiple Reviewers Facing Broken Galaxy Fold Devices After Just Days of Use

Samsung this week provided reviewers with Galaxy Fold devices for some hands-on time, and it appears the folding smartphone may be suffering from some serious flaws. Three of the reviewers who received a Galaxy Fold have already experienced failures, all of which focus on the display.

The Verge’s Dieter Bohn says that his Galaxy Fold device broke after a random bulge appeared on the display, perhaps from a piece of debris that had gotten into the hinge. The debris, or whatever the bulge was, pressed into the display hard enough to break it.

Samsung is screwing up many Galaxy S10 trade-ins, leaving customers frustrated

It’s not uncommon for smartphone manufacturers to offer some sort of trade-in incentive for the brand-new model. Samsung’s been doing it for several iterations now, as have Google and Apple. However, there seems to be an inherent logistical problem with these types of programs. There are always some trade-ins that are deemed ineligible, when, in actuality, they’re perfectly compliant. That’s what’s happening to a bunch of Galaxy S10 buyers who took Samsung up on their trade-in deals. Samsung expects quarterly profit to plummet 60 percent compared to a year ago

Things are not going well in Samsung-land.
Ahead of its earnings report later this month, the South Korean electronics giant shared earnings guidance for operating profit in the first quarter of 2019 — and it doesn’t look good.
Samsung says it expects operating profit for the quarter to total 6.2 trillion Korean won ($5.5 billion) — a 60 percent drop compared to the 15.64 trillion won ($13.75 billion) profit it raked in during the same period in 2018.

No, the Samsung Notification app update is not dangerous

Some Samsung device owners are having a bit of a freakout over the last couple days, and the cause is a something as minor and innocuous as an app update. A new version of a built-in “Notification” application is rolling out to some via the Play Store, and while seeing an app that you don’t recognize request an update can be a bit concerning, Samsung’s choice when it came to the app listing’s screenshots were not great. Earlier this week, we asked our readers on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to look at some photos taken with the iPhone XS Max and the Samsung Galaxy S10+, Samsung’s new flagship device, and tell us which photos they liked best.

There was a catch, though. We didn’t tell them which smartphone took which photo, allowing us to aggregate some unbiased opinions on the quality of the images from each device. Today, we’re revealing which photos came from which phone and sharing the results we gathered.

Kuo Increases Galaxy S10 Shipment Estimates Due to ‘Spec Differentiation From iPhone Models’

Respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who works for TF International Securities, today increased his forecast of Galaxy S10 shipments by 30 percent due to better than expected pre-order demand.

Kuo attributes the better-than-expected shipment momentum to several factors including spec differentiation from iPhone models.

Pre-order demand for the S10 series is better than expected. Worldwide pre-order demand for the S10 series grows by 30-40% YoY compared to that for the S9 series based on our survey. Therefore, we will increase shipment estimates of the S10 series in 2019 by 30% from 30-35mn to 40-45 units. S10+ and S10 account for 85%…

Electronics skins from dbrand. Why do you need one on your phone, laptop, console, or other devices? Well, they add grip, and a layer of protection against wear and tear, dings and scratches.
