Here are the most relatable depictions of women masturbating on TV and in movies

May is National Masturbation Month, and we’re celebrating with Feeling Yourself, a series exploring the finer points of self-pleasure.

For too long, female pleasure was portrayed on-screen through the prism of the male gaze.
When it came to TV and movies, scenes portraying women masturbating were basically straight out of a male director’s sexual fantasy. More often than not, the woman would writhing around on her back and she’d usually begin moaning the moment her hand came into contact with her vulva. If only it were that easy.
Truth is: We don’t masturbate like that. We’re not always thrashing about on our back making…

‘Queer Eye’ doing a rescue dog makeover will melt you into a puddle o’ goo

As if Queer Eye’s Fab Five hadn’t already made open faucets of your tear ducts over three seasons, they’ve gone and done a makeover on a gorgeous little rescue dog.
I’m not fine. You won’t be fine.
Created for National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day, the mini episode sees Antoni showing adorable corgi/beagle cross Lacey how to make peanut butter puppy treats, Tan picking out a new leash, and Jonathan and Bobby upping her doggy product and bedding game.
“Puppers love treats. Puppers deserve love,” said Antoni. “If humans deserve to engage in self-care like that, then dogs sure as hell do as well.”…

‘Tootsie’ on Broadway review: It won’t let you down

First things first: A musical? About Tootsie? It has no business working as well as it does.
I mean, really. Who could have predicted this? A show-to-stage extravaganza, based on the beloved, Oscar-nominated 1982 comedy about a desperate, out-of-work actor who disguises himself as a woman because he thinks it’ll be easier to get parts that way (HA), and winds up falling in love with a co-star and learning a few things along the way is one of those tales you’d be forgiven for thinking is best left in the past.
Happily, this thoroughly modern update is a genuine thrill, mostly thanks to…

If you’re ever in a comic book store in LA, keep your eyes peeled for superheroes. Not just the illustrated kind, either.
In the clip above for The Tonight Show, Samuel L. Jackson explains to Jimmy Fallon how he became Marvel’s Nick Fury. Apparently it all started when he was browsing comics.
“I’m passing the rack and I see this thing, the Ultimates, and I go: ‘Wow: Dude looks like me’,” explains Jackson, before going on to describe a scene in the comic where Nick Fury even says he would want Jackson to play him in a movie.

Kit Harington may have moved on from one major franchise to another, but he just brought them together in a pretty adorable spoof.
Harington did a fake audition for an “Untitled Fantasy TV Drama” along with his How to Train Your Dragon co-star Toothless. Harington included some serious jabs at his role in Game of Thrones, the beautiful brooding bastard from the North, Jon Snow.
“I’m a little confused about my part, really,” Harington tells Toothless between scenes. “First I’m dead, then I’m not. No one knows who my mother is?”
Toothless should honestly have been in GoT, because the chemistry between these two…

This post is part of Science of Sci-Fi, Mashable’s ongoing series dissecting the science (or lack of science) in our favorite sci-fi movies, TV shows, and books.
Some days are so damaging to your faith in humanity, you may find yourself idly wishing for the cleansing global firestorm that would follow an impact from the kind of asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.
If that’s the case, then astrophysicist and planetary scientist Michael Busch has some bad news. Over the last couple of decades, telescope-watchers like him have done such a good job of detecting and tracking the orbits…
