5K LG UltraFine Display Now Unavailable From Apple in the U.S.

Apple is no longer offering the 5K LG UltraFine Display from the Apple Store in the United States, with the monitor now listed as “Sold Out” and unavailable for pickup in any retail location.

The 5K LG display was in stock and available to be shipped just recently, so the stock shortage happened within the last few days. The listing for the display has not been eliminated from Apple’s site, so it’s not entirely clear if Apple plans to restock the monitor or if Apple is done selling it for good.

Apple last month removed the online listing for the 4K…

The LG G8 is a good phone that can’t escape some of the bad ideas behind it

Right now, the dominant trend in flagship smartphone design is one of refinement. Instead of aiming to sell shoppers on the appeal of tricks like modular hardware, or overloading a handset with gimmicky sensors, successful phones are instead trying to achieve the platonic ideal of basically existing as little more than one big screen. That’s driven recent efforts like the proliferation of in-display fingerprint sensors, pop-out selfie cams, and the evolution of the notch to hole-punch designs. LG makes V50 kernel source code available ahead of release

The LG V50 debuted alongside the G8 at MWC back in February. The G8 is now out (check our our review here), though the same can’t be said for the V50. Nonetheless, LG has chosen to release the kernel source code for the V50 now.

If you’re a developer and you’d like to comb through the code, the 231MB download is below. Granted, you won’t be able to do much with it right now, but it’s better to have the source code sooner than later. LG G6 with 1-year warranty is going for a mere $170 on eBay

Two years ago, the world was a simpler place for smartphones. We hadn’t yet become obsessed with notches and whether they were the “right” shape or not. In fact, we weren’t even to the point yet where extra-tall screens pushed phone design to new limits.  But that was just about to change, with the introduction of the LG G6. Hardware has come a long way since, but if you’ve still got a soft spot for this classic, today’s a fantastic day to pick one up, with open-box SIM-unlocked LG G6 handsets going for just $170 on eBay. LG rumored to offer second-screen attachment with upcoming phone

Remember LG’s ill-fated Friends modules — you know, that one camera grip thing and the other DAC add-on that never came to the US for the poorly-made G5? The company apparently didn’t learn its lesson, as CNET is now reporting that it could be unveiling a phone with a second-screen add-on at MWC next month.

According to someone close to the project, this attachment would potentially double the screen size, and it would debut alongside several other LG phones at MWC. Read MoreLG rumored to offer second-screen attachment with upcoming phone was written by the awesome team at Android Police. …
