Galaxy Fold teardown is all hinges, ribbon cables, and screens ready to break if you look at them wrong

Samsung told us what sort of engineering went into making a Galaxy Fold possible. If you didn’t believe what the company had to say, well, take a look at a teardown courtesy of a Chinese blogger and see all the moving parts for yourself.

The images of this torn-down foldable phone seemed to have originally come from this Weibo user — at least, so the watermarks may claim. The post has since been removed from the account, but not before the pictures were circulated to the wider internet. AMP pages will now show original URL in Chrome’s address bar, fundamentally changing how the web works

Google had its 2019 ‘AMP Conf’ in Tokyo today, and announced a series of changes and new features coming to the company’s Accelerated Mobile Pages project. The most important announcement was that AMP pages will now show the original URL in the address bar, which should solve the platform’s greatest point of confusion — but it’s only making things worse.
When you tap on an AMP link from Google Search, you aren’t actually taken to the optimized page on the site’s own server. Read MoreAMP pages will now show original URL in Chrome’s address bar, fundamentally changing how the web works was…

The LG G8 is a good phone that can’t escape some of the bad ideas behind it

Right now, the dominant trend in flagship smartphone design is one of refinement. Instead of aiming to sell shoppers on the appeal of tricks like modular hardware, or overloading a handset with gimmicky sensors, successful phones are instead trying to achieve the platonic ideal of basically existing as little more than one big screen. That’s driven recent efforts like the proliferation of in-display fingerprint sensors, pop-out selfie cams, and the evolution of the notch to hole-punch designs. LG makes V50 kernel source code available ahead of release

The LG V50 debuted alongside the G8 at MWC back in February. The G8 is now out (check our our review here), though the same can’t be said for the V50. Nonetheless, LG has chosen to release the kernel source code for the V50 now.

If you’re a developer and you’d like to comb through the code, the 231MB download is below. Granted, you won’t be able to do much with it right now, but it’s better to have the source code sooner than later. Samsung is screwing up many Galaxy S10 trade-ins, leaving customers frustrated

It’s not uncommon for smartphone manufacturers to offer some sort of trade-in incentive for the brand-new model. Samsung’s been doing it for several iterations now, as have Google and Apple. However, there seems to be an inherent logistical problem with these types of programs. There are always some trade-ins that are deemed ineligible, when, in actuality, they’re perfectly compliant. That’s what’s happening to a bunch of Galaxy S10 buyers who took Samsung up on their trade-in deals. Android Q Beta 2 features iOS-like multitasking gesture changes

Android Q Beta 2 landed just earlier today, and with it came a substantial set of changes to the gesture system originally introduced via Android Pie. The new gestures may not free up as much space as Apple’s since they still require a navigation bar, but they’re definitely iOS-like, allowing you to pull on the “pill” in any direction to switch apps (finally.)

Huawei’s cameras have become exceptional over the past few years, and earlier this month, the company unveiled more phones with excellent camera performance. While the P30 and P30 Pro have already turned heads with its 5x optical zoom, its low-light performance appears to beat the Pixel’s Night Sight in certain cases.
Both phones were only announced a few days ago, so in-depth reviews aren’t available yet.
