As we’ve already seen from all the trailers and previews, Metro Exodus sports a desolate Russian wilderness with a strange sense of beauty. It seems fitting then that its weapons be improvised contraptions that are merely shadows of what they used to be. No, they’re not the futuristic weapons you’d expect, but they sure can pack a punch.
The latest Metro Exodus trailer gives us a rundown of the different weapons Artyom will be packing for his cross-country adventure. It also shows how each weapon can be upgraded with different parts, most of which seem like you’ll find from scavenging, to upgrade their power and other stats. The trailer was really well made too and shows off quite a bit of gunplay.

Weapon modding has been a staple since the first game but it looks like Exodus will be taking the formula up a notch. We even see a handgun transformed into a small machine gun and assault rifles fitted with scopes and other attachments to improve versatility. There are even original weapons thanks to the genius of the in-game gunsmiths. I guess in the post-apocalyptic wilderness, you won’t just have to make do with what you find. In fact, it’s clear that customizing and adapting will be crucial to survive.
Metro Exodus is set to launch on February 15th for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
